Mercedes is a graduate of University College Falmouth and has a BA Hons in Contemporary Visual Arts, a Masters in 20th Century Art Histories and Theories, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.

She previously worked in Communications at Tate St Ives, and has served as Arts Editor for various magazines. She writes regularly as an independent Arts journalist, as well as an Arts PR writer.

Most recently her writing has been published on BBC Arts Get Creative, Culture 24, AN News, Inex online, Infoceramica, and in The Guardian, Ceramic Review, Crafts Magazine, Homestead, Artmag Scotland, Archetec Magazine, the British Travel Journal, Manor Magazine and numerous County Life publications.
